EDITOR'S NOTE

I spent a lot of last month adulting pretty hard, which also meant sticking to as much of a no-spend rule as possible. That’s definitely a challenge when you’re a shopping editor, but I digress. To live vicariously through my coworkers, here’s everything our team bought in July and are loving:

The Letter Carrier by Francesca Giannone, translated by Elettra Pauletto

The Letter Carrier by Francesca Giannone, translated by Elettra Pauletto

  • The story: Margo here. 2025 hasn’t been the best reading year for me, but when I gobbled up this WWII-era historical fiction over the weekend, it quickly became one of my few five-star reads of the year. It follows Anna, a badass woman ahead of her time, who takes on the role as her small Italian town’s letter carrier at her husband’s dismay. She works to connect people, advocate for women’s voting rights, and teach those illiterate to read. Everything about this slice-of-life story was heartwarming and impactful. If you love a family saga, sprinkled with historical fiction elements, and strong female protagonists, you need to read this book. It’s too underrated, and I won’t stop talking about it until you pick it up for yourself.
